A client loved this essential oil sniff box to help modulate his stress and anxiety.
Instructions:
• Get client or person to choose an essential oil that they like and helps to decrease/increase their levels appropriately
• One small plastic container (about 7ml in size and available from the Plastic Box shops)
• Place a cotton ball in the container
• Put 2-3 drops of chosen essential oil onto the cotton ball
• Screw on lid
The size of the container makes it small enough to be discreetly carried around with you, therefore can be used any time the need arises. Just unscrew the lid and wave the container across your nostril.
This blog was created to enhance my understanding around sensory modulation within an Occupational Therapy practice. My own learning has centered on using this concept within an inpatient mental health unit while on placement. The primary focus was to get people to relax, reduce their stress and anxiety levels, and learn ways they can self-manage these themselves. I would also like your input to help me understand how this concept has been incorporated into other settings.

Hmmm good idea, thanks for the recipe. Could see how this would work with stress, especially for us 3rd years at this time of year!
